Rev. LaVeeshia Pryor, affectionately known as Pastor Vee, began her pastoral journey in 2009 under the leadership of Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, initially serving the congregation of Saint James AME Church in Ashland, Kentucky. By 2014, she took on a dual pastoral assignment at Saint Paul AME in Ashland and Saint John AME in Greenup, Kentucky. In 2015, she assumed the role of pastor at Saint Paul AME Church in Richmond, KY. In 2021, Bishop E Anne Henning Byfield assigned Pastor Vee to Saint John AME Church, in the capital of Kentucky, where she currently serves as Senior Pastor.

 

Her commitment to the church extends beyond pastoral duties. She has held various leadership roles within the Kentucky Conference, including Chairperson of the Richard Allen Youth and Adult Council, Director of the Kentucky Conference Choir, and committee memberships in judicial affairs, ministerial efficiency, and budget management. Currently, she serves as the Kentucky Conference Dean of the Ministerial Training Institute, Kentucky Conference Treasurer, and the 13th District Women in Ministry President.

 

Rev. Pryor's academic achievements include an MBA with honors from Northern Kentucky University, Bachelor of Science in Professional Administration, magna cum laude from Barry University, and a master's degree in divinity from Lexington Theological Seminary. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies at the University of the Cumberlands.

 

Beyond her academic and pastoral roles, Rev. Pryor brings over two decades of experience in finance, project management, and operations, currently serving as a program director in the Office of Innovation at Fayette County Public Schools in Lexington, KY. 

 

A devoted servant-leader, Rev. Pryor lives by Kingdom principles and exemplifies unwavering faith. Throughout her tenure, she has played a pivotal role in nurturing spiritual growth, expanding congregational numbers, and securing financial stability within the churches she has served. With a servant's heart, she passionately preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, aiming to bring salvation to all who hear her message. Her leadership is marked by a deep commitment to both the spiritual and practical aspects of ministry, ensuring that her communities flourish in every dimension of their faith journey.

 

Her favorite Scripture can be found in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She treasures her roles as the eldest of five sisters, a mother, and a dedicated wife to her husband, Kevin Pryor.
